I recently received a statement from a local bill collector. This collector which happens to be a local college apparently had issued a refund check and failed to withdraw the semesters tuition my final year. I called this past week to inquire about this statement since I had the extra funds to pay the balance off. The dollar amount of $1500.00 had always been the same, never any recurring late fees. When they realized I was coming in to pay off the balance they IMMEDIATELY added another $800.00 to the balance bringing it to more than what I could afford to pay. The obstacle of this scenario, I have since then returned to college and need the transcripts from the college that committed this financial act in order to graduate. I was pushed out of this college as a student financially for the same burden, their incompetent employees mistake in the business office.
It appears that even in these hard economical times people in offices such as these spend most of their time contemplating how they can steal money from consumers that consumers don't have. Oh! Did I mention this is the third time I have paid for their mistake as a student at their college.
